Farm Crew Openings at Broadfork Farm 

Broadfork Farm is a production micro farm offering sustainably grown produce, microgreens, garlic, soap, and honey. We are hiring for the 2023 growing season. If you are enthusiastic about market gardening, please consider joining our farm crew!  

Farm Crew Benefits and Schedules 

  • All new hires are subject to a paid 6-week training period (Farm Crew Level 1) and may then be assigned to advanced levels depending on experience and qualifications.  

  • Positions are seasonal, typically mid-March through October. 

  • Positions are typically part-time, less than 30 hours per week.  

  • Weekly schedules and start times vary throughout the year. 

  • Paychecks are issued biweekly by electronic funds transfer. 

  • Please be advised that beehives and a farm dog are located on the property. 

Requirements 

  • Current CA driver’s license and clean driving record. 

  • Bank account for electronic payroll deposits. 

  • Proof of COVID19 vaccination will be requested at time of hire. 

Basic Qualifications 

  • Physical stamina and speed in uncomfortable weather conditions. 

  • Stoop, bend, and stand for prolonged periods of time. 

  • Lift at least 40 pounds comfortably and repeatedly. 

  • Walk on uneven terrain. 

  • Perform basic math and record keeping. 

  • Follow standard procedures for farm tasks including, but not limited to:  

  • stocking farmstand, weeding, harvesting, packing, seeding, cleaning, bed preparation, loading, shoveling, using long handled tools, managing season extension materials, and transplanting. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively with farm crew members.  

  • Demonstrate receptivity to training and suggestions. 

  • Interact appropriately and tactfully with customers. 

Compensation Structure 

Farm Crew Level 1 

  • $14.00 an hour plus 5% farmstand discount. 

  • Entry level position with a focus on routine tasks and training. 

  • Must demonstrate abilities listed in Basic Qualifications while being receptive to training.  

Farm Crew Level 2 

  • $15.00 to $17.00 an hour DOE plus 5% farmstand discount. 

  • Includes Basic Qualifications, plus additional tasks including, but not limited to: 

  • operating small farm equipment, installing and maintaining drip irrigation, and using a broadfork, wheelbarrow, quad, and riding mower. 

Farm Crew Level 3 

  • $18.00 to $20.00 an hour DOE plus 5% farmstand discount. 

  • Includes Basic Qualifications, Farm Crew Levels 1 and 2, and additional responsibilities including, but not limited to: 

  • Managing farm team members and assisting with planning, projects, and greenhouse work.
